Aalek Mehta

Aalek S. Mehta is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Birch Swing Capital, an owner-operator-led holding company founded in 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Science from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School (Class of 2016). His educational pedigree reflects deep training in both finance and general management, which he has applied across multiple stages of his career.

Prior to co-founding Birch Swing Capital, Mehta built a strong foundation in institutional finance. He worked at Rothschild & Co, where he progressed from Analyst to Executive, gaining experience in investment banking and financial advisory services. He also held a position at SAC Capital Advisors, the prominent hedge fund founded by Steven A. Cohen, where he gained exposure to public markets investing and sophisticated trading strategies. These experiences across investment banking and hedge funds equipped him with a versatile skill set spanning deal origination, financial analysis, and portfolio management.

At Birch Swing Capital, Mehta and co-founder Ford Schumacher focus on acquiring and operating lower-middle-market businesses with proven models and histories of success. The firm is operationally hands-on, investing only in businesses where it believes it can uniquely deliver value.
