Aalok Shah

Aalok Shah is a seasoned finance professional with deep roots in both Wall Street equity research and Pacific Northwest wealth management. He began his career as a sell-side research analyst, spending roughly 15 years covering technology sectors -- specifically semiconductors and data networking -- at Pacific Crest Securities (2000-2005), D.A. Davidson & Co. (2005-2007, rejoined 2008), and Credit Suisse Securities in New York (2007-2008). His research earned recognition from Institutional Investor (honorable mentions on the All-America Research Team in 2003, 2004, and 2005) and a top-five ranking for semiconductor research in The Wall Street Journal's annual "Best on the Street" survey.

Shah graduated cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. in Economics and Biology, and subsequently attended the graduate program at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. After his Wall Street career, he transitioned to wealth management, joining Northwest Capital Management (NWCM) in Lake Oswego, Oregon, where he served as Principal, CFO, and Director of Research.

He currently serves as Chief Financial Officer and Director of Research at Zuna Investment Advisors (formerly Zuna LLC), a Portland-based advisory firm specializing in retirement plan consulting, 401(k) and employee benefit solutions, and personal wealth management. Outside of his professional work, Shah serves as Vice Chair of the Board at Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland and previously sat on the Budget Committee for the City of West Linn, Oregon. He also pursues angel investing at the seed stage, with known investments in the consumer and real estate technology sectors.

Shah's investment approach is informed by over a decade and a half of fundamental equity research on Wall Street, giving him a disciplined, research-driven perspective. As an angel investor, he focuses on seed-stage opportunities in consumer-facing businesses and real estate / construction technology. His professional expertise in financial analysis, valuation, and technology sector dynamics positions him to evaluate early-stage companies with a rigorous, fundamentals-first lens. His advisory work at Zuna also gives him insight into institutional investment trends, retirement planning, and broader portfolio construction.
