Background
Aamer Abdullah is a finance professional turned angel investor and proptech operator with nearly 25 years of experience spanning Wall Street, venture capital, and real estate technology. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering and Economics from Yale University (1997) and later an MBA from Columbia Business School (2009). He began his career as an Analyst at Credit Suisse (1997-1999), rising to Vice President (2001-2003), before moving to Deutsche Bank as a Director (2003-2004) and then serving as Managing Director at ICP Asset Management (2005-2009).
In 2009, Abdullah founded MI Ventures LLC, a New York-based seed-stage venture capital firm focused on early-stage technology companies. As Managing Partner (2009-2016) and subsequently Principal, he built a portfolio of over 70 investments across sectors including PropTech, FinTech, AI, CleanTech, SaaS, and real estate. MI Ventures is headquartered at 373 Park Avenue South in Manhattan and invests in founders proving out new business models largely enabled by technology.
More recently, Abdullah transitioned into operating roles in real estate finance. He served as Vice President of Capital Markets and Finance at Ribbon Home (2021-2023), where he was recognized as a HousingWire 2022 Finance Leader for advancing appraisal-focused solutions and driving four-times growth. He then joined Manufactured as Head of Capital Markets and Finance (2023), and in late 2025 became CEO of Balance Homes, leading its relaunch with $30 million in backing from Falco Group. He was named to Private Equity News' 2026 Twenty Most Influential in Real Estate.
