Background
Aaron Brodt is the Founder and CEO of Ashton Thomas Private Wealth, an award-winning registered investment adviser (RIA) firm he built with a vision for a client-centric, values-based financial services company. Under his leadership, Ashton Thomas has grown into one of the top advisory firms in the United States, with approximately $10 billion in assets under management, twelve offices across seven states, and a presence from coast to coast including Hawaii. The firm was ranked No. 7 out of 500 firms on USA Today's 2025 list of Best Financial Advisory Firms and recognized as No. 2 nationally in its AUM subcategory.
Before founding Ashton Thomas, Aaron began his career as an oil trader for Tosco (now part of ConocoPhillips) and subsequently served as a financial advisor and portfolio manager for a multifamily office. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from New Mexico State University, where he played NCAA collegiate basketball for the Aggies, and has earned the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation, administered by the Investments & Wealth Institute and taught in conjunction with the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Aaron is also an Operating Partner at BroadOak Capital Partners, a life sciences-focused boutique financial institution based in Washington, DC and San Francisco, where he supports investing activities, due diligence, and portfolio company engagement. Additionally, he co-founded Amplify Technology, a fintech platform providing RIA Operating System (ROS) solutions that serves over 550 advisors managing more than $18 billion in assets. Amplify spun out of Ashton Thomas in 2019 after growing demand from other advisors for its modern, integrated wealth management technology. Aaron resides in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife Heidi and their two sons.
Investment Thesis & Focus
Aaron Brodt's investment activity spans multiple dimensions. As an angel investor, he focuses on seed-stage opportunities, likely in sectors where he has deep domain expertise: financial technology, wealth management infrastructure, and financial services innovation. Through his role at BroadOak Capital Partners, he is involved in growth-stage investing in life sciences companies, particularly in the research tools and consumables, diagnostics, biopharma services, cell and gene therapy, single-cell genomics, and life sciences software segments. His entrepreneurial background building both Ashton Thomas and Amplify Technology gives him a practitioner's lens on operational scaling, technology-enabled financial services, and platform businesses.
