Aaron Fairchild

Aaron Fairchild is a third-generation banker turned climate-focused entrepreneur and investor based in the Pacific Northwest. He holds an Executive MBA from the University of Washington Foster School of Business and a BA in Cultural Anthropology and Environmental Ethics from Western Washington University. Early in his career, he worked at Pacific Crest Savings Bank in real estate finance, where he managed loan officers, developed wholesale lending portfolios, and achieved top performer status. This foundation in banking and real estate finance would inform the rest of his career trajectory.

In 2010, Fairchild co-founded Green Canopy, a deep green residential development company in Seattle, and served as its CEO for over 15 years. Under his leadership, Green Canopy grew into an integrated construction technology, real estate development, and fund management company. He guided the firm through new market expansions, vertical integrations, multiple rounds of preferred offerings, an acquisition of a mass timber firm, a merger with NODE (led by Bec Wilder/Chapin) in 2021, and the development of hundreds of certified sustainable homes. During his tenure, he raised and managed four funds totaling over $100 million in corporate and project-related debt and equity invested in sustainable housing, cultivating nearly 150 impact investor relationships and approximately $60 million in aggregate assets under management.

After stepping back from Green Canopy NODE, Fairchild co-founded Cambia Capital alongside Andy Wolverton and Susan Weingartner, launching with the $20 million Douglas Fir Fund focused on mass timber residential projects. He also co-founded the Nehemiah Initiative (alongside Donald King and Bishop Garry L. Tyson), which empowers historically Black churches in Seattle's Central District to develop community housing and resist displacement. Additionally, he co-founded the Field Order 15 Fund. Currently, Fairchild serves as a Partner at Helix, an AI-powered housing innovation agency focused on reducing housing development costs. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Washington Real Estate School, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on housing markets and policy.
