Background
Aaron S. Meyer joined Wexford Capital in 2014 and was promoted to Partner in 2018. He focuses on the firm's public investment activities, overseeing long-short equity strategies that have been a hallmark of his career. Meyer operates within a firm co-founded in 1994 by Charles E. Davidson and Joseph M. Jacobs, both of whom bring over five decades of combined investment experience across distressed debt, fixed income arbitrage, private equity, and special situations.
Prior to Wexford, Meyer built an extensive track record managing long-short equity portfolios at several elite hedge fund and proprietary trading platforms. From 2010 to 2013, he served as a Portfolio Manager at RBC Proprietary Trading, managing a long-short portfolio. Before that, from 2009 to 2010, he was a Portfolio Manager and Analyst at Millennium Management, one of the world's largest multi-strategy hedge funds. From 2007 to 2009, he held a Portfolio Manager role at Satellite Asset Management, where he also managed a long-short equity book.
Earlier in his career, from 1999 to 2001 and again from 2003 to 2007, Meyer gained foundational investment experience at several prominent Wall Street firms, including CR Intrinsic Investors, Neuberger Berman, and Goldman Sachs. He holds an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business and a BA in Political Science and International Economics from Haverford College.
Investment Thesis & Focus
As a Partner at Wexford Capital, Meyer's focus is on the firm's public equities portfolio, applying a value-oriented, multi-strategy approach. Wexford Capital is fundamentally a value-driven investment firm that seeks risk-adjusted returns across both public and private markets. The firm's competitive advantages stem from its deep sector expertise and willingness to invest across the capital structure.
Wexford's broader investment philosophy spans several key sectors: energy and natural resources, real estate, technology and telecommunications, transportation, agriculture, and distressed/bankruptcy situations. The firm manages four primary hedge fund vehicles: the opportunistic/global macro Wexford Spectrum Fund, the multi-strategy credit-oriented Wexford Credit Opportunities Fund, the energy/natural resources/industrials-focused Wexford Catalyst Fund, and the global macro fixed income/FX-focused Wexford Global Strategies Fund. In addition, Wexford has invested over $3 billion through a series of private equity funds.
Meyer's personal background in long-short equity management at top-tier firms suggests a fundamental, research-intensive approach to public market investing, with the ability to identify both long and short opportunities across sectors.
