Aaron Michelin

Aaron Henrik Michelin (born c. 1962) is a Finnish serial entrepreneur and investor with over 35 years of business experience. He earned an Executive MBA (eMBA) from Tampere University. His early career included work at the Patronus banking house (1988--1989), teaching roles at the Pori Vocational Training Foundation (1986--1989), and serving as CEO of an accounting consultancy (1986--1987). He founded Corporatum Oy in 1990, building it into one of the largest investment firms in the Pori region with a portfolio spanning dozens of active and exited companies across more than 10 countries.

Michelin's most significant entrepreneurial achievement is the founding of Enersense International Oyj (established in its current form in 2004, with roots dating back to 1986). Enersense grew to employ over 200 people with annual revenues exceeding EUR 230 million, operating across three divisions: Resources, Digital Solutions & Services, and Engineering & Manufacturing. Michelin served as CEO of Enersense from 2004 to 2013 and as Chairman of the Board from 2016 to 2020. In April 2018, he led the company through its IPO on Nasdaq First North Finland (ticker: ESENSE), making it Pori's only publicly listed company at the time.

Beyond his investment and entrepreneurial activities, Michelin serves as the Honorary Consul of Hungary in Pori, Finland, reflecting his deep ties to both Finland and Hungary, where he also manages family investment operations. On April 19, 2024, he was awarded the prestigious title of Yrittajaneuvos (Entrepreneur Counsellor) by the President of the Republic of Finland, recognizing his decades of contribution to Finnish entrepreneurship. He also serves on the board of Pori Jazz 66 ry and is the co-founder (with Zsofia Michelin) of the Aaron and Zsofia Michelin Foundation, established in 2016.

Michelin's investment philosophy centres on being an "active owner and advisor of future game changers." Through Corporatum and Nordic Angel Fund, he targets fresh and innovative ideas at the pre-seed, seed, and growth stages, with a particular emphasis on companies that need not just capital but also strategic connections and mentorship. He is known for taking hands-on board roles in portfolio companies and serving as a mentor to many startup-supporting organisations.
