Background
Aaron Papowitz is the Founder and Managing Principal of The Silverbrick Group, a vertically integrated real estate investment and development firm he established in May 2012. With over 30 years of experience in real estate investment, property management, and value creation, Aaron has built a career focused on identifying underperforming assets and unlocking hidden value through strategic repositioning and operational excellence.
Aaron's educational background includes attending The George Washington University. His professional journey began in the real estate sector where he developed deep expertise in market research, deal sourcing, financial modeling, and property operations. Throughout his career, Aaron has demonstrated a consistent ability to identify distressed or mismanaged properties trading at discounts to intrinsic value and transform them into profitable, cash-flowing assets through effective management and capital improvements.
Prior to founding The Silverbrick Group, Aaron served as a Principal at REM Direct (September 1997 - Present), a privately held real estate owner/operator specializing in B/C Class properties. At REM Direct, he focused on managing multi-family real estate assets and directing operations with an emphasis on repositioning strategies designed to increase returns. His work involved hands-on asset management, operational turnarounds, and value creation through both physical improvements and management optimization.
Between January 2001 and July 2010, Aaron also founded and operated Liquid Trading LLC, an equity trading firm. This experience in financial markets provided him with additional skills in capital markets, risk management, and financial structuring that he later applied to real estate investment strategies.
At The Silverbrick Group, Aaron has led the firm's growth through strategic acquisitions and hands-on operations, building a portfolio concentrated in the Northeast United States. His approach combines rigorous due diligence, effective property management, and a vertically integrated business model that allows the firm to control all facets of the repositioning process—from deal sourcing and capital raising to construction management and ongoing property management.
Investment Thesis & Focus
The Silverbrick Group operates as a vertically integrated real estate developer and operator that acquires commercial and residential real estate for qualified parties, seeking consistent cash flow and significant capital appreciation over the long term. Aaron's investment philosophy centers on identifying non-institutional, mismanaged properties with structural inefficiencies that create acquisition opportunities.
