Background
Aaron Stibel is one of the original co-founding partners of Bryant Stibel, the venture capital firm founded in 2013 by the late Kobe Bryant and Jeff Stibel. At Bryant Stibel, he acts as an operational advisor, guiding portfolio companies and providing diligence services in the areas of technology, product development, and recurring revenue models. His technical expertise and operational experience make him a valuable resource for portfolio companies navigating growth challenges.
Stibel's career began at PricewaterhouseCoopers' management consulting practice, where he developed foundational business and technology skills. He went on to co-create DiscoverTax, a Boston-based data warehousing startup purpose-built for local, state, and federal revenue agencies. DiscoverTax became a significant success, now being used in a majority of U.S. states and by the IRS, responsible for collecting tens of billions of dollars in unreported taxes with minimal human audit support.
His extensive experience at Dun & Bradstreet shaped much of his expertise in data, technology, and small business solutions. He served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp, where he led technology strategy and product development. He later became President of Dun & Bradstreet's Small Business division and President of MDR Solutions, overseeing business operations and growth initiatives. During his tenure as CTO, he won the prestigious 2012 CIO100 award, recognizing outstanding achievement and innovation in information technology.
Stibel holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with concentrations in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University. He has been awarded several patents related to entity verification systems, credibility scoring systems, and communication tools. He has also been a featured author of technology articles and serves on the Advisory Board of the Dennett Consortium for Brain and Cognitive Science at Tufts University.
Most recently, in August 2024, Stibel joined LegalZoom (a Bryant Stibel portfolio company) as Chief Revenue Officer, and was promoted to Chief Business & Customer Officer in September 2025. He continues his partnership role at Bryant Stibel while leading key business functions at LegalZoom.
