Background
Aasim Hasan is the Managing Partner and Texas Leader of Moneta Ventures, a dual-headquartered venture capital firm (Sacramento, CA and Austin, TX) that he helped expand into Texas in 2017. He has been a proud Austin resident since 1990 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He has also completed executive education programs at both Harvard Business School and Stanford University, reflecting his commitment to continuous professional development.
Aasim's career spans over three decades in technology, consulting, and venture capital. He began his professional journey at PricewaterhouseCoopers (now PwC) in Management Consulting, where he developed foundational skills in business strategy and analysis. He then moved to Fujitsu Consulting, a Fortune Global 500 company, where he served as Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing and was a member of the Executive Council. In this role, he managed strategic merger and acquisition activities and led go-to-market strategies for enterprise technology solutions.
Following his time at Fujitsu, Aasim joined Sparta Consulting as a partner and Executive Vice President, where he played a crucial role in scaling the company from inception to over $125 million in revenue within just five years. His operational expertise and business development acumen were instrumental in this rapid growth trajectory. Before transitioning to venture capital full-time, Aasim led the global Energy and Utilities Industry Business Unit at KPIT (2014-2018), a technology company focused on automotive and transportation solutions.
Since joining Moneta Ventures in 2017 and officially taking on the role of Partner and Texas Leader in January 2018, Aasim has been deeply involved in all aspects of running the firm, including fundraising, new investment reviews, and overall fund strategy. He also leads Moneta's co-investor network and has developed the firm's go-to-market playbook for portfolio companies. Aasim is passionate about building the venture capital ecosystem in Texas and has become an active participant in the Austin startup community through his involvement with organizations like the Texas Venture Alliance, where he is a founding member (joined March 2023).
