Background
Abhijit Nath is the Partner and Country Manager for India at Insitor Partners, a Singapore-based impact investment fund that deploys early-stage equity across emerging and frontier Asian markets. In his role, Abhijit heads Insitor's operations in India, including sourcing and closing transactions and managing portfolio companies through their lifecycle. Since Insitor's establishment in 2009, the fund has invested in companies that have delivered direct impact to more than 78 million people across underserved communities.
Abhijit brings significant experience in the social impact investment space, with previous stints at the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation and Dalberg Global Advisors. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President of Risk & Investments at Balaji Telefilms Ltd., one of India's leading television production companies. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Delhi and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, building a strong foundation in both finance and strategic business management.
Beyond his investment career, Abhijit is also a Berklee College of Music graduate and accomplished musician. He is a guitarist, sarod player, composer, and arranger with a deep interest in modal forms of music and how they interact in unusual harmonic contexts. Starting guitar at age 15, he later studied jazz composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston, blending his passion for music with his business acumen.
In 2022, Abhijit founded a.live, a music technology startup creating immersive, interactive experiences for the metaverse. As CEO and Founder of a.live, he built a Web3-based platform where "every song is a world," enabling fans to experience music in immersive environments, access exclusive content, interact with artists, and remix music. The platform raised a pre-seed round from Hashed Emergent (the emerging markets fund of Korean VC firm Hashed) and other investors. Abhijit describes a.live as "the culmination of my life experiences, to fundamentally change the way music is consumed, experienced and valued by society."
