Background

Adam Jump is a Principal at Wind Point Partners, a Chicago-based middle-market private equity firm founded in 1984 that manages several billion dollars in assets across a series of buyout funds (its most recent flagship funds have run into the billion-dollar-plus range). He joined the firm in 2015 and has spent his tenure sourcing, executing, and managing control investments in Wind Point's core industrial, consumer, and business-services verticals.

Before joining Wind Point, Adam worked in investment banking, most recently as an Investment Banking Analyst at J.P. Morgan and, earlier, as an Analyst at Robert W. Baird in Chicago — background that grounds his current work in M&A execution and financial analysis.

He holds both an MBA and a BS in Accounting from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

*Note on title:* Wind Point's official team page currently lists Adam as Principal. Third-party aggregators (RocketReach, ZoomInfo) and the stub provided list him variously as "Vice President" / "Associate Vice President" — these appear to be dated. The "Angel Investors / Seed Round" labels in the stub are inaccurate: Wind Point is a control-oriented middle-market buyout firm, not an angel or seed investor.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests in profitable, established middle-market companies, not startups — Wind Point takes "majority equity ownership positions in high-quality lower and middle market companies."
  • Sweet spot: companies with $10M–$75M of EBITDA and $100M–$500M enterprise value at initial investment.
  • Three sector pillars: business services, consumer products, and industrial products — Adam personally focuses on pet care, beauty/personal care, and business services within these.
  • Pursues a "buy and build" strategy, completing multiple add-on acquisitions during ownership to scale platform companies.
  • Partners with proven operating executives (Wind Point's "Executive Advisor" model of 40+ senior industry executives) who help identify and run investments — a key differentiator in how deals get sourced and value gets created.
  • Looks for companies with "strong culture and values," defensible competitive advantages, a history of growth, resilience across economic cycles, and robust cash flows.
