Alan Hinkle

Alan F. Hinkle is a retired financial advisor, actuary, and insurance expert based in Abington, Pennsylvania. He earned a BS in Mathematics from Lafayette College. The bulk of his career was in the insurance and investment-management industries in the greater Philadelphia region.

Earlier in his career, Hinkle served as Executive Vice President and Chief Actuary of Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company, where he oversaw the company's Investment Division and helped guide the development of the firm's investment strategy. He later became a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Skippack Investment Advisors (Blue Bell, PA), where he advised clients on investment strategy and worked with local businesses to evaluate the mutual-fund offerings inside their employee retirement plans.

In retirement, Hinkle lends his financial and actuarial experience to BLBB Charitable — the philanthropic arm of BLBB Advisors, a Montgomeryville, PA wealth-management firm founded in 1964. As a volunteer Grants Advisor, he assists Executive Director Nicole G. Tell in identifying, connecting with, and evaluating nonprofit organizations that receive grants. BLBB Charitable was established in 2010 by BLBB founder Franklin A. Burke and his wife Elizabeth (originally as the Cedarcrest Charitable Foundation).

He is active in his community, serving as Chair of the Investment Committee at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, volunteering with Life Turning Point of Philadelphia, and having served on numerous nonprofit boards over the years. He lives with his wife Rosemary, who is also active in volunteer work.
