Background
Alejandro Gorozpe is the Chief Financial Officer and Managing Partner of Nexxus Capital, one of Mexico's largest independent alternative asset managers. In his role he oversees the firm's accounting, financial reporting, and tax advisory work, and provides that support across Nexxus's portfolio companies. He has been with the firm since 1999, making him one of its long-tenured senior partners.
Before joining Nexxus, Gorozpe worked as a tax consultant at PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) and spent time at a family-run textiles company. He earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. His background is finance- and control-oriented rather than deal-sourcing, which is consistent with his CFO/Managing Partner mandate.
Nexxus Capital was founded in the mid-to-late 1990s and is headquartered in Mexico City, with an additional office in Madrid, Spain. The firm has raised and managed multiple funds with aggregate capital commitments well above US$1.3 billion (the firm cites more than US$1,900 million of capital deployed to grow 40+ companies). It is notable as the only Mexican alternative asset manager to have listed six portfolio companies on public markets — Homex, Genomma Lab, Sports World, Crédito Real, Grupo Hotelero Santa Fe, and Traxion.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests through growth private equity and private/mezzanine debt vehicles — Nexxus Private Equity Mexico, Nexxus Private Equity Iberia, and Nexxus Private Debt México — rather than seed or angel checks.
- Targets middle-market companies, historically small and medium-sized Mexican family-run and entrepreneur-owned businesses with expansion potential.
- Typical equity tickets run roughly US$15–50M in Mexico and €10–25M in Iberia; private-debt structures range from MXN$80–200M (smaller) up to MXN$200–800M (larger deals).
- Sector exposure spans consumer goods, pharmaceuticals/healthcare, tourism/hospitality, financial services, and industrials.
- A signature part of the thesis is pursuing companies that can eventually reach the public markets or a strategic exit — Nexxus emphasizes "transform to transcend" and has a strong IPO/exit track record.
- Gorozpe's specific value-add is financial discipline, reporting, and tax structuring across portfolio companies, not front-line deal origination.
