Background

Alesha Dixon (born 7 October 1978, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire) is a British singer, television presenter and author. She first rose to prominence as one third of the UK garage/R&B group Mis-Teeq (1999–2005), which scored seven consecutive UK top-10 singles ("Scandalous," "All I Want," "Why") and sold more than 12 million records worldwide. As a solo artist her 2008 album *The Alesha Show* went platinum, featuring "Breathe Slow" and "The Boy Does Nothing."

She is best known today as a long-running television personality: she won *Strictly Come Dancing* in 2007, judged the show from 2009–2012, and has been a judge on Britain's Got Talent since 2012. She has also judged *The X Factor* (2017), *America's Got Talent: The Champions* (2020) and *Australia's Got Talent* (2022), and co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. Beyond broadcasting she runs the record label Precious Stone Records and has authored several children's book series, including *Lightning Girl*.

Her business and entrepreneurial activity spans brand endorsements (Ford, Avon, Toblerone), a jewellery line, a fragrance, and a portfolio of investments described in press coverage as spanning fashion and technology. Within the startup world, her most concrete and publicly documented involvement is as one of a group of celebrity angel shareholders in the British music-streaming company ROXi.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests as an individual celebrity angel, not through a fund or firm; deals are typically syndicated alongside other high-profile figures rather than led solo.
  • Disclosed activity centres on music technology and consumer entertainment — a sector adjacent to her own career and network.
  • Has participated in both angel-stage and later-stage rounds (CB Insights lists an angel round and an earlier Series-B-stage participation).
  • Pattern suggests she says "yes" where there is a strong founder/celebrity syndicate and a music/entertainment consumer product she can credibly amplify through her platform, rather than a defined thematic thesis stated publicly.
  • No publicly stated personal investment thesis or check-size range could be found; treat sector/stage inferences as based on disclosed deals only.

Notable Investments

  • ROXi — TV-based music entertainment and streaming platform (55M-song catalogue, karaoke, music games) founded by entrepreneur Rob Lewis, launched August 2017. Dixon is one of its celebrity angel backers, alongside Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue (2020), Sheryl Crow, Stephen Fry, Simon Cowell, Ron Dennis and Paul McGuinness. The company raised over $15M. CB Insights records her most recent ROXi investment as an angel round dated 9 November 2020, and lists a management buyout exit in May 2025 (with acquirers including Sinclair Broadcast Group and Gray Media).
