Background

Alexander Busse is a Managing Partner at NXTP Ventures, a leading early-stage B2B technology investor active across Latin America. He has held the role since May 2017, and is responsible for evaluating, structuring, and executing investments as well as supporting portfolio companies both regionally and globally. Within the firm's strategy he concentrates most of his time on logistics-tech, B2B SaaS, and fintech opportunities, deploying primarily through NXTP's most recent vehicle, Fund III (a $98M fund closed in November 2023).

Before NXTP, Busse worked across several private-capital investment funds. Most recently he was at Conduit Capital, a New York–based private equity firm, where he invested in controlling stakes in private companies across Latin America — experience that gives him a cross-border, operator-oriented lens on the region.

On the academic side, Busse earned a B.A. summa cum laude from Tufts University in Boston and a master's degree (International Finance & Energy Management) from Columbia University in New York; he has also completed executive/business coursework associated with Stanford University. He is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and co-invests frequently with NXTP colleagues and well-known regional and global investors.

NXTP itself is one of Latin America's most established early-stage firms, having backed 130+ companies with 30+ exits and multiple unicorns (including Auth0, Nuvemshop/Tiendanube, and Mural). Fund III targets 25–30 new B2B investments, with more than half expected to go to Brazilian startups.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Stage: Pre-seed through Series A, with a strong seed-stage center of gravity.
  • Check size: Busse's own deals cluster around $500K–$2.0M (sweet spot ~$1.3M); NXTP funds can go up to $5M.
  • Sectors: B2B / enterprise software and SaaS, fintech & payments, logistics-tech, B2B marketplaces, e-commerce enablers, and data/AI — explicitly *not* consumer-first.
  • Geography: Latin America first (Brazil is the largest single market for the firm), with capacity to support companies expanding globally.
  • What makes them say yes: NXTP's stated positioning is partnering with B2B founders to move "from concept to execution and impact." The firm looks for technical B2B products with clear enterprise or SMB monetization, regional scalability, and founders it can support hands-on (Busse takes board seats).
