Allison Williams

Allison Strouse Williams is a serial entrepreneur turned venture investor. In the roughly ten years after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, she founded and sold a startup and served on the executive teams of several others, with operating stints reported at companies including SamyRoad and Kiswe Mobile. A self-described "Jersey girl" from Monmouth County, she has been a vocal advocate for the New Jersey and Newark tech ecosystem.

She joined Newark Venture Partners in March 2018 as Director of NVP Labs, the firm's pre-seed investment and accelerator arm, and was later promoted to Principal as NVP raised its $88M Fund II. At NVP she built and ran a 12-week, hands-on accelerator that paired capital with an in-house "execution team" spanning sales, product, finance, and PR, plus access to a network of 500+ mentors drawn from NVP's corporate limited partners (which have included Audible, Prudential, RWJBarnabas Health, the Ford Foundation, and Rutgers). She has also served as a startup-competition judge (e.g., the NJTC "Startup Showdown") and was a public face of NVP Labs during the COVID-19 pivot to a virtual cohort in 2020.

Earlier in her investing career she was associated with JAZZ Venture Partners, a firm focused on frontier technology (AI, AR/VR, gaming/eSports, and human-performance/neuroscience themes), which is reflected in some of her broader investment interests. She has since moved into operating again as Head of Strategy at Pacific Fusion, a fusion-energy company based in the San Francisco Bay Area, where her work spans partnerships, corporate development, and investor-facing strategy.

• Stage: Pre-seed through seed. At NVP Labs she ran a "bridge-to-seed" accelerator designed to get very early companies ready to scale; NVP's main fund leads or joins seed rounds.
• Check size: Up to ~$3M for NVP seed investments; NVP Labs participated with smaller accelerator-stage checks (≈$1.2M deployed in aggregate across Newark cohorts).
• Sectors: B2B software and data businesses solving "real-world business challenges," with concentrations in healthtech, supply-chain tech, and a notable audio/podcasting thesis (NVP's "unique understanding of the audio market"). Her JAZZ-era interests extended to AI and AR/VR.
• What makes her say yes: Strong operators she can support hands-on. NVP's pitch was execution support — turnkey sales, product, finance, and PR help — rather than capital alone, so she gravitated toward founders who would leverage that operating muscle. She also championed diverse founding teams (cohorts intentionally included female founders and founders of color).

She framed NVP as offering "something not being offered in Manhattan or Silicon Valley — a program with incredible hands-on execution support."
