Background

Amir Memon began his career as a consultant at McKinsey & Company before joining Advent International, the Boston-based global private equity firm, in 2008. He started as an Associate in the Boston office focused on buyout and growth-equity investments in the financial and business services sectors. After business school he rejoined Advent's Industrial team, ultimately rising to Principal and spending close to 15 years at the firm. Over that tenure he led seven investments deploying more than $3 billion of equity capital and served on the boards of portfolio companies including NielsenIQ, Culligan, Encora, and Distribution International.

He holds a B.S. in Economics and B.A. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating *magna cum laude*, and earned an MBA from The Wharton School with a Master's in International Affairs from the Lauder Institute, both with distinction/honors.

In September 2023 Amir left Advent to join the Princeton University Investment Company (PRINCO) as an Investment Director, where he helped steward Princeton's ~$35 billion endowment with a focus on its private equity portfolio. He has since co-founded OneWell, an outsourced-CIO (OCIO) and integrated wealth firm where he serves as Managing Partner. OneWell provides institutional-grade portfolio construction and values-aligned investing for endowments, foundations, family offices, and private clients across public and private markets.

Outside of his investing career, Amir is active in the Muslim professional community — he has spoken at the Muslims in Business (MIB) Conference and serves on the boards of community mosques in New Jersey. He resides in Princeton, NJ with his wife and four children.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • At Advent International: classic large-cap private-equity strategy — buyout and growth-equity investments in financial services, business services, and industrials, taking board seats and driving operational value creation in established, scaled companies (deals averaging hundreds of millions of dollars in equity).
  • At OneWell (current): acts as an allocator / OCIO, not a direct early-stage investor. The firm "combines institutional-grade portfolio construction with values alignment," emphasizing *"strategic asset allocation, proprietary public and private market strategies, and disciplined execution."*
  • OneWell deliberately integrates ESG / impact and values considerations from inception rather than retrofitting them, serving *"values-driven endowments, foundations, and families who view capital as a means to meaningful outcomes."*
  • His private-markets edge comes from manager selection and co-investment, informed by 15 years of direct PE deal experience and PRINCO endowment work.

Notable Investments

  • NielsenIQ (NYSE: NIQ) — global consumer-intelligence and market-measurement company; Advent-backed, later public.
  • Culligan — water treatment and filtration company; Advent portfolio company.
  • Encora Inc. — global digital-engineering and software-services firm; Advent portfolio company.
  • Distribution International — distributor of mechanical insulation and related products; Advent portfolio company.
