Background
Amir Prescher is a veteran Israeli technology executive whose career sits at the center of the high-performance networking and data-center industry. He was a founding member of Voltaire Ltd., a pioneer in InfiniBand server/storage fabric switches and network-virtualization software, where he served from 1997 to 2011 in a succession of senior roles: VP of R&D (1997–1999), VP of Marketing (1999–2008), VP of Business Development (2001–2008), and finally Executive VP of Business Development (2008–2011). Voltaire was later acquired by Mellanox.
Prescher joined Mellanox Technologies in February 2011 as VP of Business Development, was promoted to Senior VP of Business Development in February 2013, and later led End-User Sales & Business Development. When NVIDIA acquired Mellanox in 2020, he continued as NVIDIA's Senior Vice President of End-User Sales & Business Development, a role he had effectively held since December 2018.
Earlier in his career, Prescher served as an officer in the Israel Defense Forces' Technical Intelligence Unit. He studied electrical and electronics engineering at Tel Aviv University.
Alongside his operating career, Prescher has been active as an angel investor and advisor, most notably as an early investor, advisor, and board member at the AI/data-platform startup Iguazio.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests personally as an angel at the seed / early stage, rather than through an institutional fund.
- Focus areas align with his operating expertise: enterprise infrastructure, data-center networking, AI/ML and data platforms, and business/productivity software.
- Brings deep go-to-market and business-development experience (Voltaire → Mellanox → NVIDIA) — valuable to deep-tech founders needing help scaling enterprise sales and partnerships.
- Concentrated, hands-on involvement (advisor + board seat at Iguazio) rather than high-volume check-writing suggests he backs a small number of companies where he can add operational value.
Notable Investments
- Iguazio — Israeli AI/MLOps and real-time data platform for building and deploying machine-learning applications; Prescher was an early angel investor, advisor, and board member (investment dated ~November 2015). Iguazio was later acquired by McKinsey/QuantumBlack (2023).
