Background
Amy M. Meadows has spent 25+ years in the Dallas nonprofit and philanthropic community. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Speech Communications from The University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree from the University of North Texas. Early in her career (1995–2001) she was Director of Communications for Fidelity Investments Southwest, then moved into philanthropy as program director and later executive director of Social Venture Partners Dallas (2001–2004).
In 2004 she joined The Belo Foundation — the charitable foundation historically associated with the Belo/A. H. Belo media family — as Vice President and Executive Director, a role she held for roughly eleven years. During that tenure she led the design and construction of Belo Garden, one of the parks called for in Dallas's 2004 Downtown Parks Master Plan. Her `@ahbelo.com` email dates to this period.
In October 2015, The Belo Foundation was reconstituted as Parks for Downtown Dallas, refocusing all of its resources on developing and advocating for the priority parks in the City of Dallas's 2013 Downtown Parks Master Plan Update. Meadows served as its President from that formation, and on December 3, 2019 was promoted to Chief Executive Officer (a promotion announced with praise from board figure Robert W. Decherd, a longtime Belo family leader). The organization now operates as the Downtown Dallas Parks Conservancy, where she is President & CEO.
