Background

Amy Yateman-Smith is a Partner at Livingbridge, a leading UK-headquartered mid-market private equity firm. She graduated from the University of Warwick with a degree in History, then trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant at KPMG. After qualifying, she moved into KPMG's Transaction Services team, where she spent roughly three years advising private equity and corporate clients on due diligence and strategic option development — the foundation for her later career as a deal investor.

She joined Livingbridge in 2011 and has spent her career there managing investments across three of the firm's funds. She was promoted to Partner in 2020 (Livingbridge announced her among its new-partner cohort that year) and serves as Fund Manager for Livingbridge 6 and Livingbridge 7. Across her tenure she has taken companies through the full investment lifecycle — from initial investment, through value-creation, to eventual exit.

Amy currently holds board seats at portfolio companies including CitNOW (automotive video/dealer software), Exclaimer (email signature management software) and WoB. Earlier in her career she also sat on the board of SysGroup Plc as a Non-Executive Director (2016–2017). She is involved in the BVCA's Foundation training programme and is a visible advocate for cognitive diversity and for encouraging more women to build careers in private equity, having spoken about balancing her role as a Partner with raising three young children.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests at the growth / mid-market end — management buyouts, growth capital and expansion funding — not seed or angel-stage deals.
  • Backs high-growth, entrepreneurial businesses, typically management- and founder-led, primarily in the UK & Ireland.
  • Core sectors: technology & software, services, healthcare & education, and consumer.
  • On what drives a "yes," in her own words: *"There are many aspects to growth, but we usually start with the market opportunity, differentiation of proposition, and talent."*
  • Value-creation approach centres on partnering with management on talent development, digital transformation and M&A / buy-and-build to accelerate growth.
  • Personally motivated by company- and people-building: *"I love seeing businesses and people evolve and grow and become the best versions of themselves."*
