Background
André Glezer grew up in São Paulo in an entrepreneurial family — his father ran a jeans-manufacturing business in Brazil's textile sector, exposing him early to the realities of running a company through Brazil's volatile economic cycles. He studied at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP), completing his degree between roughly 2006 and 2010, and built a finance career centered on agribusiness, with publicly cited experience spanning investment banking and private equity. He describes himself as having around a decade of experience in the financial markets focused on agribusiness investment, including time at a global fund managing more than R$7 billion in assets. His earlier professional path includes roles connected to agribusiness operators and investors such as Arlon Latin America (a private-equity firm), Betânia Lácteos, Sotran Logística, and Grano Alimentos.
While evaluating consolidation opportunities among agricultural-input retailers during his PE/IB years, Glezer identified a structural gap: Brazilian farmers lacked proper access to banking and credit. When retailers and suppliers couldn't obtain financing, they absorbed the burden by extending payment terms to farmers, creating severe cash-flow constraints across the supply chain. That insight led him to found Agrolend in December 2020 alongside a complementary founding team that included his brother Alan Glezer (credit and commodities). Other leadership co-founders include CTO Leopoldo Vettor and CSO/credit lead Carlos Fagundes.
As CEO, Glezer has positioned Agrolend as "the digital bank of agribusiness" — a lender providing working-capital and input financing directly to small and mid-sized farmers across Brazil, bypassing the traditional bank channels that under-serve rural producers. Under his leadership the company has raised well over US$90 million in equity across seed through Series C rounds and attracted strategic backing from global crop-input and agribusiness players. In 2024–2025 the company was also the subject of public reporting on a legal dispute among its partners.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- André operates primarily as a founder/operator building a credit platform for Brazilian agribusiness — not as a verified independent angel investor (the stub designation is unsupported).
- Agrolend's model: extend direct credit and input financing to small and mid-sized Brazilian farmers, filling the gap left by traditional banks and by suppliers who informally finance their customers.
- Stated ambition (his own framing): become "the digital bank of agribusiness ('o banco digital do agro')," scaling the loan book toward multi-billion-real volumes and a base of 10,000+ farmer clients.
- On capital-raising, Glezer framed the 2024 Series C as proof that "it demonstrates the market's confidence in our business model and prepares us for the next stage of growth."
