Background

André Levi is the Chief Financial Officer and a Partner at DCM, the Menlo Park–based venture capital firm (formerly Doll Capital Management) founded in 1996 by Dixon Doll and David Chao. He joined DCM in 2006, was named CFO in 2012, and became a Partner in 2018. In his role he oversees the financial operations of DCM's investment funds — including tax and regulatory compliance, investor reporting, and the execution of sell-down strategies for public holdings across the DCM portfolio — as well as day-to-day management of the firm's global finance and operational matters. He also contributes to strategic planning, investor relations, and the financial execution of DCM's investment activity and portfolio-company transactions.

Before joining DCM, André spent 2000–2006 at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an Assurance Manager, providing audit and business-advisory services to numerous venture capital funds. Earlier in his career he served as a Contributing Editor for the Closed-End Fund Digest, covering emerging markets in Latin America and Asia. He has more than 20 years of professional experience across financial and operational roles.

André earned a B.A. in Business Economics with Honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) in California and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the CFA Institute. A native of Brazil, he is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Operates within DCM's institutional strategy: early- and growth-stage technology companies, with the firm concentrating capital at Series A and Series B.
  • Individually profiled (NFX Signal) as a Seed/Series A investor with a range of roughly $250K–$15M and a sweet spot near $5M; DCM firm checks more typically run $5M–$25M (avg. ~$12M Series A, ~$25M Series B).
  • Sector strengths tracked across SaaS, cloud infrastructure, SMB software, consumer internet, social commerce, and games — mirroring DCM's dual enterprise-applications and consumer focus.
  • DCM's stated approach favors hands-on, concentrated bets — the firm has backed 400+ companies and 35+ unicorns over ~30 years — and as CFO/Partner, André's value-add skews toward financial guidance, fund/portfolio operations, and transaction execution rather than being the primary sourcing/deal lead.
