Background
Andréas Gall is a veteran French private-equity executive with roughly 35 years in the industry. He spent the latter part of his career at XAnge, the innovation-focused venture capital brand of the Siparex Group, where he served as Partner and Directeur Général Délégué (Deputy Managing Director) and sat on the company's board (Siparex XAnge Venture). He studied at the Université Paris Nanterre and, earlier in his career, was deputy general manager (directeur général adjoint) at Sud Partners SA before his long tenure in the XAnge/Siparex ecosystem.
At XAnge, Gall was the executive most associated with building out the firm's impact-investing practice. He was one of the founders and the operational driving force behind Mutuelles Impact, launched in 2020 at the initiative of the Mutualité Française (FNMF) and dozens of its member mutuals — France's first investment fund dedicated specifically to health and medico-social innovation with social and environmental impact. The fund was managed by XAnge in partnership with the impact-investing specialist Investir&+, and grew from an initial ~€53M closing to an €80M second closing in 2022, ultimately reaching around €95–100M.
XAnge itself, founded in 2003–2004, manages roughly €600–700M in assets and invests in digital, deeptech and impact startups across Western Europe, with offices in Paris, Berlin and Munich. The firm is a certified B Corp and has backed multiple unicorns (e.g. Ledger, Lydia) and Next40/FT120 companies. Gall operated alongside partners such as Cyril Bertrand, Nicolas Rose, Guillaume Meulle and impact partner Nadja Bresous Mehigan.
Per French corporate filings, the Siparex XAnge Venture supervisory board formally recorded Andréas Gall's retirement effective 1 January 2025, ending his functions as board member and Deputy Managing Director. (Note: some aggregator databases label him as an "angel investor," but his actual role was as a fund partner/executive at an institutional VC firm.)
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Impact through technology: Backed "ambitious entrepreneurs who use technology as a lever for generating impact," with a stated insistence that impact "must be qualified and measured over time" — hence the partnership with Investir&+ to analyze portfolio companies' real-world effects.
- Health & medico-social mandate: Via Mutuelles Impact, targeted solutions to structural healthcare challenges — population ageing, chronic disease, access to care, prevention (combating sedentary lifestyles, workplace health) and healthcare-system performance.
- Dual targets: Both high-potential impact startups and established SMEs demonstrating strong corporate social responsibility.
- Stage & geography: Early-stage, France/Western Europe, consistent with XAnge's broader seed/early-stage venture mandate.
- Impact-first sourcing: Anchored by a mutualist LP base (Mutualité Française and its member mutuals, later joined by the Banque des Territoires and regional authorities), aligning capital with solidarity-oriented health outcomes.
