Background

Andrei Zadornov is a founding partner and Managing Partner of BIC Securities, formerly Baltic Investment Company (BIC), an independent corporate-finance advisory firm he co-founded in 1999 in Riga, Latvia, together with Kirill Jurzditsky. Before starting BIC, he worked in banking, and is reported to have served as Head of Treasury at Parex Bank — at the time one of Latvia's largest banks — from 1998. He was educated in Riga, holding degrees from Riga Aviation University and from the Riga School of Economics and Business Administration (BA School of Business and Finance).

At BIC, Zadornov has advised and managed a wide range of M&A transactions for the firm's clients, spanning financial services, pharmaceuticals and other sectors across the Baltic, Russian and Ukrainian markets. The firm positions itself as an independent boutique executing domestic and cross-border corporate-finance deals, primarily mergers and acquisitions, from offices historically located in Riga, Moscow and Kiev.

A notable milestone in his career came in 2007, when Belgium's KBC Securities acquired a 51% majority stake in BIC (announced 2 July 2007 and closed 29 August 2007), after reaching agreement with the company's two owners. The firm was subsequently renamed KBC Securities Baltic Investment Company and folded into KBC's Eastern European corporate-finance network, which KBC hoped would let it dominate cross-border corporate finance and M&A across the Baltics, Russia, Ukraine and Central/Southeastern Europe. The firm later returned to operating independently under the BIC Securities name.

Today Zadornov continues to lead BIC Securities as Managing Partner, overseeing M&A and debt-financing mandates for clients in the region.
