Background
Andrew Apedoe is a Calgary-based finance executive with roughly 25 years of experience in capital formation, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, and corporate governance. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, with additional coursework in corporate securities, investment management, business valuation, and competitive intelligence.
Earlier in his career, Apedoe was head of investor relations for The Churchill Corporation, a Calgary-based construction company (later rebranded as Stuart Olson). He led IR through a leadership transition after the company parted with its former CEO in mid-2012, establishing what he described as a "conservative and realistic" tone with investors and emphasizing transparency and access to sell-side analysts. He was recognized as a top-ranked investor relations officer in the small-cap category before departing in December 2013.
After leaving Churchill, Apedoe became President, CEO and Director of Xito Capital Partners, a Calgary management buy-in group formed to acquire and consolidate firms in the construction, facilities management, and energy-infrastructure sectors. There he led acquisition and divestiture processes for general and trade contractors serving industrial, commercial, and institutional markets, with particular expertise in due diligence, deal structuring, negotiation, and financing.
Today he is a Partner in the Calgary office of Osprey Capital Partners, one of Canada's mid-market investment banks. He provides advisory and investment-banking services to private and publicly traded organizations across construction, utilities, pipelines, energy, technology, and retail, and has worked with public-private partnership (P3) consortia to secure a major healthcare infrastructure project.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Focuses on business acquisitions and succession/buy-in transactions rather than venture funding — Xito Capital was "created to acquire firms and deliver value through the consolidation and synergistic integration or operation of related businesses."
- Strong sector concentration in construction, facilities management, and energy/utility infrastructure, extending to pipelines, technology, and retail on the advisory side.
- Brings a capital-formation and M&A skill set — due diligence, acquisition structuring, negotiation, and financing — to mid-market private and public companies.
- Values transparency and investor access, a philosophy carried over from his award-winning investor-relations work ("give as much insight and transparency into the company as I possibly can without … disclosing non-public information").
Notable Investments
- No individually documented angel or venture portfolio companies were found in public sources.
- Xito Capital Partners — founded/led as CEO; a buy-in vehicle acquiring and consolidating construction, facilities-management, and energy-infrastructure firms serving industrial, commercial, and institutional markets.
- Osprey Capital Partners engagements — advisory/investment-banking mandates across construction, utilities, pipelines, energy, technology, and retail, including work with a P3 consortium on a major healthcare infrastructure project (specific deal names not publicly disclosed).
