Background
Andrew Robert Melbourne (born September 1982; British) is Chief Financial Officer of K3 Capital Group, the multi-disciplinary SME advisory group whose flagship brand is KBS Corporate, "the UK's leading business sales adviser." He joined the group in 2012 following roughly ten years in financial and accounting roles across a range of industries including media, leisure and property management. He holds an MSc in Strategic Financial Management and is a former North West Young Finance Director of the Year.
As CFO, Andrew has been central to the group's transformation. He played a key role in K3 Capital Group's flotation on the London Stock Exchange's AIM market in April 2017, in its subsequent programme of acquisitions, and in the 2023 private-equity-backed take-private. During his tenure the group grew from a single-office business-sales adviser in Greater Manchester with under 100 staff to a business employing more than 600 people across roughly 30 offices in seven countries, with revenue rising from about £10m at IPO to roughly £85m. He is described as responsible for the group's financial strategy, performance and capital management.
In February/March 2023, an affiliate of Sun European Partners, LLP acquired K3 Capital Group via a scheme of arrangement (effective 14 February 2023), taking the company private — a transaction Andrew helped execute (Tikehau Capital provided £115m of debt facilities; Houlihan Lokey advised). Since the take-private, the group has continued an active bolt-on acquisition strategy, and Companies House records show Andrew holds director appointments across dozens of group subsidiaries and newly acquired businesses (e.g. Pareto Financial Planning, AlphaLogix, ProSys Computing, Flint Studios, HMA Tax, Quantuma and Knight Corporate Finance entities), reflecting his role integrating acquisitions into the K3 platform.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Andrew's professional activity is corporate/M&A advisory and group finance, not venture angel investing. He is a finance leader and executive director rather than a cheque-writing early-stage investor.
- At group level, K3 Capital Group / KBS Corporate focuses on UK SME company sales and M&A — advising owner-managers on selling their businesses, plus tax advisory, restructuring/insolvency and legal services.
- Post-take-private (under Sun European Partners), the group pursues a buy-and-build / bolt-on acquisition strategy, acquiring professional-services and advisory firms; Andrew serves as director across many of these acquired entities.
- No publicly stated personal angel-investment thesis, check size, or target-company criteria could be verified.
