Background
Andrew Mueller is a private equity investor with 15+ years of experience. In 2025 he founded Contour Point Capital, LLC, a private investment firm focused on buyout investments in lower-middle-market companies in industries where its principals and operating partners have deep expertise. He describes his approach as pairing relationship-building with a "deeply analytical approach to investment structuring, assessment and value creation," partnering with founders, management teams, and capital partners to solve business and financial challenges.
Before launching Contour Point Capital, Mueller spent twelve years (joining in 2013) as a senior investment professional at Juggernaut Capital Partners, a Washington, D.C.–based private equity firm that had over $1 billion in AUM at the time of his departure. There he rose to Principal and focused on sales & marketing services, health & wellness, digitally native brands, and apparel. He sat on the boards of several portfolio companies, including BOOM! by Cindy Joseph and French Transit Holdings, and previously on the boards of Mitchell & Ness and BDS Solutions Group.
Earlier in his career, Mueller was an Associate at Ares Management from 2010 to 2013, where he executed middle-market debt and equity investments across consumer, marketing services, and other industries. He began his career in the Aerospace & Defense (and government services) Investment Banking group at Jefferies & Company.
He holds a B.A. in Economics (with distinction) from the University of Virginia.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests in profitable lower-middle-market companies, generally in the $3–30M+ EBITDA range — control buyouts, founder/family-owned recapitalizations, and corporate carve-outs, rather than early-stage venture.
- Core sectors mirror his operating track record: marketing & retail services, business services, specialized infrastructure & government services, and consumer (health & wellness, marketing-driven and digitally native/DTC brands).
- Emphasizes partnership-driven deals — collaborating with founders, owners, and operating partners to unlock value, including in "complex situations."
- Known for a buy-and-build / platform strategy: at Juggernaut he helped build platforms with numerous add-on acquisitions (e.g., a retail-services platform with 13 add-ons and a UK consumer-products sales & marketing platform with 8 add-ons).
- His stated edge: "His approach pairs relationship building with a deeply analytical approach to investment structuring, assessment and value creation."
