Background
Andrew "Andy" Reiser is the co-founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Kapitus, the alternative small-business finance company he launched in January 2006 as Strategic Funding Source, Inc. He started the business with roughly ten employees and a mission to give the small-business community — which he describes as significantly underbanked — a trusted, reliable source of financing. In late 2018 the funding and servicing arms of Strategic Funding Source were unified under the Kapitus brand, though the legal parent (and Reiser's email domain, sfscapital.com) reflects the original Strategic Funding name.
Before founding the company, Reiser held a series of financial-services leadership roles: CEO of Arcavista Corporation, Managing Director at Donald & Co. Securities, Inc., Executive Vice President of Fidelco Capital Group, and President of Windsor Group, Inc. He began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand and Price Waterhouse. He holds a BS from Boston University's Questrom School of Business.
Under Reiser, Kapitus has grown into one of the larger non-bank small-business lenders in the U.S., operating as both a direct lender and a financing marketplace with a network of lending partners. The company reports having provided more than $5 billion in financing to over 50,000 small businesses (as of early 2024), funding more than 1,000 businesses a month, with capital decisions in as little as two hours and funding within 24 hours. Its product suite spans term loans, revenue-based financing, SBA loans, lines of credit, equipment financing, invoice factoring, purchase-order financing, and healthcare financing (Helix®). Reiser frames the opportunity around a ~$420 billion addressable market of small-business loans under $1 million currently outstanding in the U.S.
Reiser is an active industry voice in alternative/small-business lending (podcasts, DailyFunder's "CEO Corner," and trade press) and, in June 2026, was named an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2026 New York Award winner, advancing him to consideration for the national award.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Provides capital to operating small and medium-sized businesses, not equity to startups — the core "thesis" is that small businesses are chronically underbanked and need fast, flexible, transparent financing.
- Positions Kapitus as both a direct lender and a marketplace, matching businesses to the right product across term loans, revenue-based financing, SBA loans, lines of credit, and equipment/invoice/PO financing.
- Emphasizes speed and accessibility: capital available within ~2 hours and funding within ~24 hours of application.
- In his own words, Reiser credits Kapitus's edge to "flexible product offerings, proven credit models, a scalable tech-driven platform, consultative sales professionals, a superior customer service team, a deeply experienced management team, and a track record of profitability."
- Stated company mission: to "help small business owners grow their organizations by providing tailored, transparent, and ethical financing solutions."
