Andrew V. Welters launched 5Lion Ventures in 2014. The firm describes itself as an early-stage investment firm focused on Seed to Series A funding and advisory services, and says it is often the first institutional capital into startups. Welters’s 5Lion biography says he has experience founding, operating, and advising early-stage healthcare and technology companies.

Before and alongside 5Lion, Welters founded BTLR in 2013, described by 5Lion as a customizable concierge service for high-value patrons and fans in sports and entertainment venues. A Google Patents record lists Andrew V. Welters as an inventor on a Butler Solutions patent application for multimodal communication systems, with a 2017 publication date.

Welters received a B.A. in History from the University of Notre Dame. He was later appointed to the advisory council of Notre Dame’s IDEA Center, the university’s innovation and entrepreneurship center. His 5Lion biography also says he has served on the board of Washington Jesuit Academy and on the Advisory Council of The AnBryce Foundation; AnBryce separately lists him as a board member, a Washington, DC resident, Vice President of Corporate Development & Investor Relations at CINQCARE, and Founding Partner of Broadburch Capital Partners.

Third-party profile data from SignalHire lists prior roles including Venture Partner at H/L Ventures from August 2018 to November 2021, founder of BTLR from June 2014 to June 2020, and earlier brand / corporate reputation work at Finsbury Glover Hering and curatorial research work at the Smithsonian Institution.
