Background

Andrew Wiechkoske is a Managing Director at Riverarch Equity Partners, the Pittsburgh-based private equity firm formerly known as PNC Riverarch Capital. He joined the firm in 2011 from PNC Equity Partners, and before that worked in the investment banking division of JPMorgan. He rose through the firm as an associate and principal before being promoted to Managing Director in March 2019. He is one of the deal-team leaders who source, execute, and oversee the firm's control investments in lower-middle-market companies.

Wiechkoske holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and economics, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame, and an MBA with honors from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Riverarch was originally launched within PNC in 2011 and rebranded to Riverarch Equity Partners in March 2024 while closing its latest fund, Riverarch Equity Partners 4, with roughly $1.0 billion in commitments. Since inception the firm has backed 34+ platform companies and completed more than 110 add-on acquisitions. Wiechkoske currently sits on the boards of several portfolio companies, including APA Industries, Clayton Kendall, Ascend Bakery Brands (Costanzo's Bakery), Messenger, Metal Supermarkets, and The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley.

Over his career at the firm he has also served as a director of Authority Brands, Carbon's Golden Malted, Feeders Supply, Fire & Life Safety America, Global Claims Services, Goldco, Midway Dental Supply, North American Breaker Company, Painters Supply & Equipment Co., Pirtek Europe, Radiance Holdings, Shearer Supply, and Steelite International.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests via a private equity fund (not personal angel capital); pursues control equity in profitable, established lower-middle-market businesses — not early-stage startups.
  • Targets companies with $5M–$30M of EBITDA and "meaningful, competitive positions in well-defined markets with clear customer value propositions and realizable growth opportunities."
  • Flexible on structure: leveraged/management buyouts, recapitalizations, corporate divestitures, and growth financings.
  • Sector emphasis on business & industrial services, specialized manufacturing, and value-added distribution, with a demonstrated appetite for franchise/multi-unit and consumer platforms.
  • On the Metal Supermarkets deal, Wiechkoske said Riverarch was attracted to the company's "strong foundation, well-operated model and well-performing franchisees," and framed the goal as not just growing the concept but "bolstering operations" — signaling a preference for durable models where the firm can add operational value.
