Background
Antoine Bisson-McLernon is the co-founder, Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Fiera Comox Partners, a Montreal-based global private-markets investment manager he helped establish in 2016 alongside Fiera Capital and former Canadian pension-plan executives. The firm now oversees roughly C$4.8 billion (as of September 30, 2025) across four strategies — agriculture, timberland, private equity and private credit — and Antoine chairs its Investment Committee and sits on its Board of Directors.
Before founding Fiera Comox, Antoine spent about seven years at PSP Investments, one of Canada's largest pension investment managers, where he last served as Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Private Equity, running both direct and fund investing across an approximately C$11-billion portfolio. In 2011 he launched and led PSP's global Natural Resources group for five years, building a roughly C$3-billion portfolio of direct investments and acquiring over 2 million acres of timberland and farmland — the foundation of the natural-capital expertise that defines Fiera Comox today.
Earlier in his career, Antoine worked in private equity at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and in investment banking at National Bank of Canada. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce (Great Distinction) from McGill University, and he is a CFA charterholder. He has served on portfolio-company and platform boards across the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Spain and Brazil.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests at institutional private-markets scale across four strategies — agriculture, timberland, private equity and private credit — rather than at angel/seed stage.
- Positions the firm as "a leading investor in Natural Capital," emphasizing long-term, real-asset ownership (farmland, permanent crops, animal protein and forestry) operated through partnerships with strong local operators.
- The Global Private Equity strategy targets diversified middle-market companies in B2B products & services, energy, financial services, healthcare and information technology.
- Uses an open-ended fund structure for its private equity strategy, which the firm says offers better liquidity, less blind-pool risk and a limited J-curve versus traditional closed-end PE.
- Pursues "attractive long-term returns" by deploying patient capital into operating platforms (the agriculture and timberland teams have deployed over US$5 billion across roughly 4 million acres globally).
Notable Investments
- Auvil Fruit Company — Washington State permanent-crop (apple/cherry) grower; Fiera Comox agriculture platform, Antoine serves on the board.
- Innoliva — Spanish super-high-density olive oil (and almond) producer; agriculture/permanent-crop platform, board seat.
- Excel Farms — agricultural operating platform; board seat.
- Golden Pear Funding — U.S. specialty/legal finance company; private credit/private equity holding, board seat.
- Broader real-asset footprint includes timberland acquisitions in coastal Oregon and New Zealand under the firm's timberland strategy.
