Background
Arjun Arikeri is a Mumbai-based private equity investor with nearly two decades of experience across global private equity, special situations, and financial services. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Technology (Electrical) from IIT Bombay and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (MBA) from IIM Ahmedabad. His early career spanned credit rating (ICRA) and public-markets/growth-equity work before moving into direct investing.
Prior to Multiples he was part of the India investment team at Argonaut Private Equity (an arm of the George Kaiser Family Foundation), and later joined the Special Situations investment team at KKR, where he managed KKR's investment in one of the largest players in the Indian polymer value chain and evaluated other special-situations opportunities.
He first joined Multiples Alternate Asset Management in 2013, where over more than a decade he participated in and led marquee deals. He was involved in three transactions early on — Delhivery, South Indian Bank, and Sara Sae — and from 2017 he led the firm's coverage of the financial services sector, spanning banking, NBFCs, general and life insurance, wealth management, and tech-led disruption in the space. He rose to Principal and headed the Financial Services practice.
He subsequently moved to CPP Investments, where he is a Managing Director in the Private Equity team, leading direct private equity investments in India — focused on co-investments and partnership transactions alongside leading fund managers, and bringing a limited-partner (LP) lens to the Indian buyout market. He is a listed speaker at IVCA's Buyouts Summit 2026.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests as an institutional PE investor, not an angel — growth equity, buyouts, and direct/co-investment deals rather than seed checks.
- Deep financial-services specialization: banks, NBFCs, insurance (general and life), wealth management, and fintech/tech-led disruption of financial services.
- At CPP Investments, focuses on direct private equity in India, emphasizing (in his own framing) "long-term value creation, governance, and alignment with GPs in the Indian buyout market."
- Brings a background in special situations and credit (KKR special situations, ICRA credit rating), which shapes a risk- and governance-conscious underwriting style.
- Geographic scope is India-centric, within CPP Investments' broader Private Equity Asia mandate.
Notable Investments
- Delhivery — Indian logistics/supply-chain company (later NSE/BSE-listed); one of his early Multiples transactions.
- South Indian Bank — Kerala-based private-sector bank; a Multiples financial-services deal he was part of.
- Sara Sae — India-based oilfield-equipment manufacturer; another of his early Multiples transactions.
- Led Multiples' broader financial-services coverage post-2017 across banking, NBFCs, insurance, and wealth management (specific deal-level attribution beyond the above is not publicly detailed).
