Managing Director; Co-Head of Investments; member of the Investment Committee
Firm
Gemspring Capital
Firm Type
Private equity (lower-middle-market control buyouts, recaps, and carve-outs). Note: the original stub listed him as an "Angel Investor" investing at "Seed Round," but that does not match his verified role — Gemspring is a control-oriented PE firm and Aron leads its software buyout practice. A separate "Aaron Grossman" (CEO of TalentLaunch in Cleveland) is the person who angel-invested in HR Signal; that is a different individual.

Buyout / growth (established, revenue-generating companies) — not seed

Gemspring equity investments typically range ~$25M–$100M+ (enterprise values ~$75M–$350M+)

Lower-middle-market companies with roughly $5M–$500M in revenue and $6M+ EBITDA, primarily in the U.S. and Canada

United States and Canada

Westport, Connecticut, USA

Background

Aron Grossman is a Managing Director at Gemspring Capital, a Westport, Connecticut–based private equity firm founded in 2015 that provides flexible capital to lower-middle-market companies. He joined Gemspring in 2017 as a Principal hired specifically to build and lead the firm's software investing practice, and has since risen to Managing Director. In February 2026 he and Zubin Malkani were appointed Co-Heads of Investments, and he sits on the firm's Investment Committee. He brings roughly 18 years of combined private equity and operating experience.

Before Gemspring, Aron was a Principal at Rho Capital, a technology-focused private equity firm with about $1.4 billion of capital under management, where he focused on originating and executing enterprise software investments. Earlier in his career he spent five years in operating roles at software companies: he was CFO of Voxy, a venture-backed education-technology company where he also played a central role in sales, marketing, and operations, and he later founded and served as CEO of Cleanshelf, a software-expense-management (SaaS spend management) business that he bootstrapped and ultimately merged with a competitor.

Aron began his career on the investing and advisory side, working as a private equity investor at Tailwind Capital and as an investment banker at Houlihan Lokey. He earned a BA in Economics and Spanish from Emory University.

At Gemspring he currently serves on the boards of Appriss Retail, GoldenSource, OPEXUS, and Sigga, and he has previously served on the boards of Bobit, Cforia, and Valant — a portfolio concentrated in B2B and enterprise software.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Leads Gemspring's enterprise/B2B software investing effort; targets established, revenue-generating software and tech-enabled businesses rather than early-stage startups.
  • Invests through control-oriented private equity structures — buyouts, recapitalizations, and corporate carve-outs — with Gemspring emphasizing "flexible capital solutions" and active partnership with management teams.
  • Target company profile: lower-middle-market firms with ~$5M–$500M revenue and $6M+ EBITDA, headquartered primarily in the U.S. and Canada, with clean financials.
  • Typical equity checks of roughly $25M–$100M+ in companies with enterprise values around $75M–$350M+.
  • His operating background (CFO and founder/CEO of software companies) shapes a hands-on, operationally engaged approach to portfolio companies, especially around growth in sales, marketing, and go-to-market.
