Background

Arun Krishnakumar is a London-based venture capital investor, author, and technology executive with more than two decades of experience spanning retail and investment banking, hedge funds, and consulting. Before moving into investing, he spent over a decade in corporate technology roles, including at Barclays and PwC, specializing in data and technology. He then built roughly a decade of investment experience, advising and mentoring more than a dozen startups and sitting on several boards.

He is a Partner at Green Shores Capital, a London-based early-stage venture firm (founded 2018, based at Berkeley Square, Mayfair) that describes itself as investing in "defensible technology businesses with exponential growth potential" backed by "diverse founders with unique insights." He is also a Partner at Delphos International, where he helps arrange project finance for companies in emerging markets, and Managing Trustee of the Aram Foundation, an India-based NGO focused on water conservation.

More recently, Arun has moved deeper into institutional digital assets. He served as Head of Institutional Growth at Marinade Finance (a Solana staking protocol), where he drove institutional adoption and led partnerships such as the September 2024 tie-up with Zodia Custody enabling institutional Solana staking. His LinkedIn now lists him as VP, Institutional Capital at R3, the enterprise distributed-ledger technology company, indicating a continued focus on bringing institutions into digital-asset markets.

Arun is a prolific fintech commentator and author. He wrote *Quantum Computing and Blockchain in Business* (Packt, 2020), co-authored *The Metaverse Economy* with Theodora Lau, and co-authored *Restartup: A Founder's Guide to Crisis Navigation* (Wiley) with Maxson Tee. He founded and hosts the "One Vision" podcast, ranked among the top fintech podcasts globally, and previously contributed to the Daily Fintech blog. He has been recognized as an Onalytica Top 100 Fintech Influencer, a Refinitiv Social 100 (ESG) leader, and among the Top 100 Asians in UK Tech.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests at early stage (seed through Series A) in defensible, technology-driven businesses with the potential for exponential growth.
  • Strong bias toward diverse founders and business models that create positive environmental and economic impact, especially for underserved communities and emerging markets.
  • Sector conviction in FinTech, deep tech, blockchain/digital assets, and sustainability/climate, extending to PropertyTech, IoT and e-commerce across the Green Shores portfolio.
  • Values founders who can navigate crisis and adversity — the core theme of his book *Restartup* ("Even shit floats in high tide"), framing resilience and adaptability as a founder trait he looks for.
  • Emphasizes founder visibility and network-building in the ecosystem as a precursor to a raise (see "How to Approach").
