Background

Asaf Iram is the Managing Partner of GlenRock Israel, the private equity and investment company founded in 2003 by Leon Recanati (a member of one of Israel's most prominent business families). GlenRock functions as an active, hands-on investor concentrating on life sciences and advanced technology. Iram has been with the firm since 2006, where he scouts and leads investments, works closely with portfolio companies, and provides ongoing consulting to their management teams. He sits on the Board of Directors of a number of GlenRock's private and public portfolio companies.

Before joining GlenRock, Iram practiced corporate law at Meitar Liquornik Geva & Leshem Brandwein (one of Israel's leading law firms), where he specialized in corporate law with an emphasis on investment rounds and IPOs. He also worked as a consultant for MATI, a public organization that supports the establishment and expansion of businesses, advising startups and entrepreneurs on business planning and launching ventures in Israel. He has been involved in independent entrepreneurial ventures of his own as well.

Iram holds an unusually broad academic record, all from Tel Aviv University: an Executive MBA, an M.Phil. in Philosophy (Magna Cum Laude), an LL.B. in Law, and a B.A. in Management. Beyond investing, he mentors at Tel Aviv University's Entrepreneurship Center and has served on the board of the Yahel Foundation. In parallel with his GlenRock role, he serves as a Vice President at Shavit Capital Management, a healthcare/life-sciences-focused growth fund associated with the Recanati/GlenRock circle.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests through GlenRock Israel, a private investment company that combines private-equity funding, multidisciplinary in-house expertise, and access to quality deal flow to build and grow Israeli companies.
  • Core sectors: life sciences (biotech, pharmaceuticals, medical devices), advanced technology, cyber, auto-tech, and fintech/deep-tech.
  • Takes an active, board-level role — GlenRock is a hands-on investor that helps "innovative ideas evolve into successful business ventures," not a passive check-writer.
  • Stage-flexible: participates in early/seed-style rounds as well as later private-equity growth investments; appears in some databases specifically as an angel/seed backer.
  • Strong bias toward Israeli founders and companies, reflecting GlenRock's and Shavit's Israel-centric mandate.
