Background
Asim Qureshi is a British serial entrepreneur and the Founder and CEO of Jibble Group, the company behind the free time-tracking, attendance and payroll software Jibble. He studied Physics at the University of Oxford (master's, mid-to-late 1990s) and began his career in finance — starting as an analyst at Barclays Capital in 1998 before becoming a Vice President at Morgan Stanley (where he worked for roughly six years) and later holding a similar role at Credit Suisse. He has said he left investment banking at 27, having reached a VP level earning several hundred thousand dollars a year, to pursue building companies.
From 2006 onward, Qureshi built a string of startups, largely centered on Malaysia and Southeast Asia. He co-founded and led ThinkProperty.my (2008–2016), a property portal later sold to iProperty (Asia's largest property portal group) — reportedly Malaysia's highest publicly announced website sale price at the time. He went on to launch multiple ventures around 2016, including PayrollPanda (Malaysia's leading payroll app, where he is Co-Founder/Co-CEO), Mulah Rewards (a digital loyalty program, where he serves as Chairman), plus early experiments such as Skoot/Scoot and Teyoot, and the venture builder LaunchPad Startups.
Jibble itself grew out of the PayrollPanda ecosystem after a friend suggested adding time-tracking capabilities. The company was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Guildford, UK, with a large remote team. Qureshi transitioned Jibble to a 100% remote, product-led organization; despite a lean team and no dedicated marketing department, it has attracted customers such as Tesla and Harvard University through organic content and word-of-mouth. In 2024 Jibble Group reported revenue of roughly $10.5M (up from $6.7M in 2023), serving over a million users across tens of thousands of businesses. Outside of work he describes himself publicly as a "homeschool dad" and ex-physicist.
As an investor, Qureshi operates as an individual angel rather than through a formal fund. His public angel footprint is limited (aggregators such as Tracxn and PitchBook record only one or a small number of recorded angel positions), and much of his capital deployment has historically gone into his own ventures and, via LaunchPad, into building new companies in Southeast Asia.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests personal capital at the seed / early stage, in exchange for equity, primarily in B2B SaaS and adjacent categories he knows well (HR tech, payroll/fintech, property tech, loyalty).
- Strong bias toward capital-efficient, product-led companies — he built Jibble largely bootstrapped on his own money before raising, and champions organic growth over paid marketing.
- Backs founders first, business plans second: he has publicly noted that his own first $1M pitch for Jibble succeeded because investors "focused more on the founder than the business plan."
- Stated product philosophy he applies as an operator-investor: *"A superior product can win you over more clients than paid marketing ever will."*
- Comfortable with Southeast Asia (especially Malaysia) as well as the UK, reflecting where he has built and operated companies.
