Background
Aydin Mirzaee is a two-time SaaS founder and operator best known as the CEO and co-founder of Fellow, an AI meeting assistant. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Ottawa, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
His first company, Fluidware, was co-founded in 2008 and built the products FluidSurveys.com and FluidReview.com. Notably, Fluidware was bootstrapped — grown without external angel or VC capital — into a profitable, rapidly scaling SaaS business with $10M+ in annual recurring revenue and roughly 75+ staff. It was acquired by SurveyMonkey in 2014, after which Mirzaee served as General Manager of FluidReview and of SurveyMonkey's Ottawa office.
In 2017 he co-founded Fellow alongside his brother Amin Mirzaee (CPO) and Samuel Cormier-Iijima (CTO) — the same core team behind Fluidware. Fellow launched in 2018 as a meeting-productivity tool for agendas, notes, action items, and 1-on-1s. It raised a ~$6.5M USD (~$8.58M CAD) seed round in 2019 (Inovia Capital and Felicis among investors) and a $24M Series A in October 2021 led by Craft Ventures, with participation from Inovia, Felicis, Garage Ventures, Formentera, and SVB — bringing total funding to roughly $30.5M. The company has since fully pivoted to AI, rebranding from Fellow.app to Fellow.ai as a security- and privacy-first AI meeting assistant (featuring "Zero-Day Retention"), and reports 5,000+ organizations as customers as of 2026.
Beyond building companies, Mirzaee is an active content creator and community figure in the management/founder world. He originally hosted the *Supermanagers* podcast and now hosts *This New Way*, a podcast focused on practical AI leadership and workflows. He is a frequent conference speaker (Running Remote, SAAS NORTH) and, drawing on his own bootstrapped-then-venture-backed exit, invests personally as an angel in early-stage startups.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests as an individual angel, not through a fund — deploys personal capital, typically at seed / early stage (has also joined a later Series A as an operator-angel).
- Backgrounds strongly favor founders and B2B/SaaS businesses, reflecting his own operator experience building capital-efficient, bootstrapped-then-scaled software companies.
- Portfolio and databases indicate exposure to consumer/social commerce and AI in addition to SaaS, suggesting a generalist, founder-quality-driven approach rather than a rigid thematic mandate.
- As someone who scaled Fluidware to $10M ARR without outside capital, he brings a strong appreciation for capital efficiency, revenue discipline, and durable unit economics — likely signals he weighs in founders.
- Note: aggregators show a small publicly-disclosed angel portfolio, so check size and frequency appear modest and selective rather than high-volume.
Notable Investments
- MILLIONS.co — social commerce / creator platform; Mirzaee is listed among the angel investors and advisors backing the company. He participated around its Series A (the company announced a $10M round led by Volition Capital in September 2021).
