Ben Pike

Ben Pike is a Principal at Ares Management, the global alternative investment manager, where he works within the firm's energy/infrastructure investing activities. He joined Ares in 2015 when the firm acquired Energy Investors Funds (EIF), where Pike had spent roughly six years. In these roles he has originated new investment opportunities, structured and closed transactions, handled legal documentation, and managed portfolio companies — closing, by his own account, billions of dollars of energy, renewables, and infrastructure financings.

Before moving into principal investing, Pike began his career in investment banking. He joined Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and later Merrill Lynch (starting around 2006), working in the energy and power group as well as across sectors such as mining, consumer goods, and technology. His analyst work centered on financial modeling for mergers and acquisitions and on debt and equity financings.

Pike earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Georgetown University (class of 2006). He is an Eagle Scout and a member of the National Eagle Scout Association, and outside of work lists interests including skiing, scuba diving, travel, reading, and the outdoors.

His work has drawn industry recognition: he received a 2019 Business Insider "Rising Star of Wall Street" award and was a finalist for the S&P Global Platts Global Energy "Rising Star" award in 2016.
