Bence Gergely

Bence Gergely is a Principal at PortfoLion Capital Partners, the Budapest-based venture capital and private equity arm of OTP Bank (Hungary's largest bank), which he joined in 2019. PortfoLion was founded in 2010 and invests in early-stage, growth-stage, and buyout companies primarily across the CEE region.

He holds degrees from Corvinus University of Budapest and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and he graduated from the CEMS Master's in International Management (MIM) programme. Before moving back to Budapest to join PortfoLion, he gained experience in banking and consultancy, and lived in Barcelona and Vienna.

At PortfoLion, Bence focuses on growth-stage investments and is especially interested in fintech and software infrastructure. He has been actively involved with a number of the firm's portfolio companies — including Banzai Cloud, Deligo, Szállás Group, Shiwaforce, VCC Live, and Novakid — and continues to seek out strong management teams and companies across CEE. He notably worked on PortfoLion's successful 2022 exit of Szállás Group to Poland's Wirtualna Polska, and on the 2023 Series B investment in V2X technology company Commsignia. Outside of work, he has played the piano for over a decade and enjoys biking and board games.
