Background

Bernard Hendrikx is a co-founder and partner of Integra Partners, a Belgian private equity firm launched in 2018 that gives (largely Belgian) private investors access to internationally diversified private equity funds and co-investments. He co-founded the firm alongside Ralf De Clercq and Johan Heirbrandt. Before Integra, Hendrikx and Heirbrandt both worked at the Belgian venture fund Creafund, while De Clercq came from BNP Paribas.

Hendrikx built his career in banking and corporate finance with a specialization in private equity. He began in the "Markets and International Business" department of the Royal Bank of Scotland covering Belgium and Luxembourg, then spent several years at Pentahold, where he gained hands-on experience across the full investment cycle and in managing a private equity portfolio. He was an investment manager at a Belgian private equity player until 2018, when he left to help start Integra.

On the academic side, he holds a Master in Financial Management from Vlerick Business School, a Master in Business Economics, and a Bachelor in Law.

Important accuracy note: The stub described Bernard as an "Angel Investor" writing "Seed Round" checks. Research does not support this. Integra is a private equity fund-of-funds and co-investment vehicle that commits capital to established buyout/growth managers (Apax, Vista, Oak Hill, Five Arrows, MML, One Equity, PEP) — not an angel or seed-stage startup investor. The profile below reflects what the sources actually show.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Integra positions itself as "a Belgian private equity fund that provides local access to the best international private equity funds and co-investments through a thoughtful approach."
  • Core model is fund-of-funds plus co-investment: rigorous due diligence to select renowned international PE managers, then bundling access for investors who couldn't otherwise reach these funds.
  • Emphasis on globally diversified, long-term, sustainable value creation across regions, sectors and vintages — explicitly sector-agnostic.
  • Mission framed as democratizing private equity ("Private equity voor de happy few") — opening an asset class traditionally reserved for institutions to a broader base of private investors, while removing the administrative burden of direct PE management.
  • Stated ambition (2022): to grow into a full-fledged wealth manager in private equity ("We willen vermogensbeheerder in private equity worden").

Notable Investments

  • Birkenstock — the German footwear brand, cited as an example of a consumer-goods deal Integra gained exposure to via its managers.
  • Manager relationships / underlying funds: Apax, Vista Equity Partners, Oak Hill, One Equity Partners, MML, PEP, and Five Arrows (Rothschild) — the institutional GPs whose funds Integra allocates to.
  • Since 2018, Integra reported deploying roughly €650m+ into international private equity across sectors.
