Beth Young

Beth Young is a higher-education finance and operations executive. As of her most recent public appointment she serves as Vice President for Business Affairs at Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC) in Sumter, South Carolina, where she oversees the college's financial and business services. In announcing the role she said her goal was "to continue to focus on aligning resources to ensure student success and ensure CCTC will continue to deliver innovative programs."

Before CCTC, Young spent several years at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois. She joined as Chief Financial Officer in 2016, added the role of Chief Operating Officer in December 2019, and in May 2020 was named interim president of the college (succeeding Doug Jensen, who left to lead Bismarck State College). In her finance leadership there she established and maintained the college's risk-management program, managed its investments and cash flow, and allocated financial resources against the institution's educational mission. Prior to Rock Valley, she was Dean of Business Affairs / Controller at Kishwaukee College in Malta, Illinois, a post she held for more than seven years, and she began her career as a mathematics teacher at Burbank High School in California.

Across her career Young has managed a broad operational portfolio beyond finance, including IT, athletics, campus security, facilities, emergency services, a college foundation, and a community theater. She is active in the profession as a leader of Community College Business Officers (CCBO) — serving on its board since 2015, later as president/president-elect — and received the organization's Outstanding Business Officer award in 2013. She has also been affiliated with a Northern Illinois accountants' association.

Young holds a Master of Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management (DeVry University) and a Bachelor's degree in mathematics / secondary education from Indiana University (Bloomington). She is married to Don Young and has two daughters.
