Background
Bhavin Patel is the co-founder and CEO of LenDenClub, which he founded in September 2014 and which has grown into India's largest peer-to-peer (P2P) lending marketplace. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Communication from South Gujarat University and a PGDM in Marketing & Finance from the Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies. Before LenDenClub, his career ran through structured and securitized finance: he co-founded SPAN Analytics (2009–2011), worked as a Senior Manager in Structured Finance at Electronica Finance Limited (2011–2013), and served as AVP – Finance (Fund Raise) at Being Human Clothing (2013–2014).
His entrepreneurial start traces to the 2008 global financial crisis, when he launched a securitization consultancy to help NBFCs raise capital and serve borrowers at scale. That exposure to India's credit gap shaped the thesis behind LenDenClub — deploying idle capital from individual investors directly to creditworthy borrowers needing short-term personal loans. The company launched with personal loans, pivoted to small-ticket "InstaMoney" loans in June 2018, reached profitability, and now processes roughly 95% of India's P2P lending volume. Patel often notes he met his co-founder and CTO, Dipesh (Deepesh) Karki, on a football pitch, and describes himself as "a quintessential Gujarati… positively stereotypical in my entrepreneurial approach, and I know how to hustle."
LenDenClub is backed by investors including Artha Capital and Tuscan Ventures, with its last institutional raise in 2021. For fiscal 2025 the company reported revenue of about ₹240 crore and profit near ₹34 crore, guiding to ₹320–350 crore revenue and ₹50–60 crore profit for the current year. Patel has stated that the parent, Vartis Platforms, is preparing for an IPO within an 18–36 month window, which would make LenDenClub potentially the first P2P lender in India to list.
Separately from LenDenClub, Patel is an active angel investor, with a small portfolio of early-stage deals recorded across hardware/robotics and business-software startups.
