Background

Bob Lobley is an Operating Partner at Juna Equity Partners, a New York City–based middle-market private equity firm that manages approximately $450 million and was seeded with an anchor investment from Ardian. Juna was formed around an equity portfolio acquired from GE Capital in 2015 and today invests out of its 2016-vintage Juna Equity Partners Fund I, focusing on minority (non-control) positions in businesses with EBITDA of roughly $5M–$25M.

Lobley is a 34-year veteran of General Electric. He began his career through GE's Manufacturing Management Program and is an alumnus of GE's Corporate Audit Staff, going on to hold operational, technology, quality, and commercial leadership roles across GE Aerospace, GE Industrial Systems, GE Financial Assurance, and GE Trading/Licensing. Over that career he led operational teams in manufacturing and technology, designed and implemented supplier-quality and ISO 9000 systems, deployed Lean/flow methodologies, built IT solutions and marketing plans, and led financial and business-process audits.

Before joining Juna, Lobley supported GE Equity's portfolio companies — improving processes such as procurement, data analytics, restructuring, HR, customer support, sales, shipping, and factory layout. A certified Master Black Belt, he is credited with adding measurable enterprise value to portfolio investments (aggregated by some directory sources at more than $300M across his engagements). His role at Juna is squarely operational: partnering with management teams of portfolio companies to improve operations and financial performance rather than sourcing or negotiating deals.

Lobley holds an MBA from Binghamton University and a Bachelor's of Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Juna invests in minority / non-control equity of middle-market companies — buyouts, direct non-control equity, secondaries, restructured equity, and co-investments.
  • Check/company size: businesses with EBITDA of ~$5M–$25M; the firm runs ~$450M under management from its 2016-vintage Fund I.
  • Sectors: industrial, business services, consumer, healthcare services, and media.
  • Geography: North America, Asia, and Europe.
  • As an Operating Partner, Lobley's contribution is the operational value-creation side of the thesis — Lean/Six Sigma process improvement, quality systems, procurement, restructuring, and manufacturing/technology operations — consistent with Juna's positioning as a hands-on, operations-focused minority investor.
