Bob Thomas

Bob Thomas is a Partner at Oxx, the European B2B SaaS–focused venture firm founded in 2017 by Richard Anton and Mikael Johnsson. He joined Oxx in 2018 as the firm's first Stockholm hire and was instrumental in establishing its Nordic presence and its people-focused, specialist SaaS investment approach. He was promoted from Senior Associate to Principal and then, effective 1 January 2023, to Partner — alongside Phil Edmondson-Jones (also to Partner) and Ingrid Bonde Åkerlind (to Principal).

Before Oxx, Bob built a finance- and deal-oriented career: he worked in management consulting at LEK Consulting, served as CFO of a SaaS company, and was a Vice President / investment banker at Torch Partners, where he advised technology businesses across consumer internet and enterprise SaaS on M&A and capital-raising transactions. That combination of operating-CFO and banking experience underpins his hands-on approach to helping portfolio companies scale internationally.

Bob is unusually credentialed academically. He holds an MA in Philosophy from Trinity College, Cambridge, is a CFA Charterholder, and has accumulated multiple technical and policy degrees: an MSc in Computer Science from the University of York, an MA in International Affairs (Cyber Security) from King's College London, and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder. He has spoken at SaaS industry events (including SaaSiest webinars) and writes/comments publicly on SaaS metrics such as cohort analysis and go-to-market efficiency.

• Invests exclusively in B2B software / SaaS, backing European founders who have found product-market fit and need help cracking what Oxx calls "Go-to-Market Fit" — building a repeatable, sustainable growth engine.
• Stage and check: scale-up stage (roughly Series A through growth); Oxx leads and co-leads rounds of about $5–25m, deploying from a $190m second fund closed in November 2023.
• Describes Oxx's style as "hype-resistant" and selective — it makes a small number of high-conviction commitments rather than spraying capital, and emphasizes core values and long-term company-building.
