Brandon Muirhead

Brandon Muirhead is a Managing Director at The Cynosure Group, a Salt Lake City–based private investment firm that makes long-term equity investments in founder- and management-owned middle-market companies. He joined Cynosure in August 2022 and was elevated to Managing Director in the firm's 2025 promotions, where he focuses on sourcing, diligencing, and managing long-term investments. Firm leadership publicly cited "his combination of deep industry expertise, strong deal execution capabilities, and ability to create lasting impact within our portfolio companies."

Before Cynosure, Muirhead spent several years as a Director at Thompson Street Capital Partners (TSCP), a St. Louis private equity firm founded in 2000 that has acquired more than 100 companies and managed billions in equity. There he worked on transactions including the 2020 acquisition of data-security software provider PKWARE and the 2022 sale of Alpaca Audiology, the largest independent audiology clinic group in the U.S., to Switzerland's Sonova Holding AG. Earlier in his career he held roles at Lindsay Goldberg, Greenhill & Co., Apple, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and the U.S. Department of State.

Muirhead earned a B.S. in Management from Brigham Young University (2005–2009) and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania (2014–2016). He served a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mission in Slovenia/Croatia and later taught personal finance at the University of Ljubljana. Alongside his investing career, he is an Adjunct Professor of Finance at BYU's Marriott School of Business, where he teaches financial modeling.
