Brett Nelson

Brett A. Nelson is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Gabriel Horn Capital, LLC, a boutique fund placement and advisory firm focused on raising institutional capital for private equity funds and direct deals. Gabriel Horn Capital says its team has raised more than $20 billion and invested more than $12 billion as limited partners; Nelson’s own bio states that he has more than 23 years of alternative investment experience and has invested more than $8 billion across 190 funds, secondaries, and co-investments.

Before Gabriel Horn Capital, Nelson co-founded Bright Harbor Advisors, a global placement advisory firm. His Bright Harbor work included fundraising, origination, due diligence, positioning, and transaction negotiation advisory services for private equity funds across buyout, venture capital, growth, secondary, credit, distressed, real assets, royalty, clean-tech, and fund-of-funds strategies, as well as advisory work on secondary sales and fund restructurings.

Earlier, Nelson was Principal and Head of Global Private Equity at Aon Hewitt, where he worked on portfolio design, investment selection, and asset allocation for global institutional clients. He also created and served as President and CEO of Aon Hewitt’s Secondary Market Services, helping clients obtain liquidity for private-market partnerships, and was a member of infrastructure and real estate investment committees.

Nelson was previously a Principal at INVESCO Private Capital, investing in private equity partnerships and secondaries and serving on the investment team for INVESCO Global Fund III and Millennium Fund II. He began his finance career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in corporate finance. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University, an MBA from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business, completed management coursework at the University of Pennsylvania, and holds Series 7, 63, 65, and 39 licenses.
