Background
Brittney Oake is Director of Business Development at ShoreView Industries, a Minneapolis-based lower-middle-market private equity firm she joined in January 2019. In her role she leads deal origination and builds and manages relationships with the intermediary community (investment banks, business brokers, M&A advisors) that sources acquisition opportunities for the firm. Functionally she is the firm's front door for founders, owners, and bankers with a company to sell or recapitalize — not a personal angel investor writing seed checks.
Before ShoreView, Brittney was Director of Deal Solutions (Venue) at Donnelley Financial Solutions (DFIN), a global financial-compliance and SaaS company, working out of the New York office, where she introduced the company's virtual data room and transaction technology to private and public companies. That role gave her deep exposure to the deal-execution ecosystem and the transaction advisors she now cultivates as referral sources.
She holds a B.A. in International Business and German from Washington & Jefferson College.
ShoreView itself was founded in 2002 and has raised more than $1.8 billion of committed capital across five funds, partnering with over 120 companies. The firm takes a non-operational, board-level approach — backing existing management teams rather than installing operating partners.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests in established, cash-flow-positive lower-middle-market companies — typically $20–$300M revenue and $4–$25M EBITDA — not startups or seed-stage ventures.
- Deploys up to ~$100M of equity per deal across management buyouts, leveraged recapitalizations, minority/growth investments, corporate divestitures, and industry roll-ups/consolidations.
- Targets family- and entrepreneur-owned businesses seeking liquidity, growth capital, or acquisition financing while retaining a role for management.
- Sector preference for niche manufacturing, value-added distribution, business/industrial/residential services, aerospace & defense, packaging, and specialty products.
- Firm's stated positioning: "Experienced Partners to Entrepreneurial Management Teams," emphasizing a supportive, board-level (non-operating) partnership model.
- Brittney's personal mandate is sourcing: originating proprietary deal flow and deepening intermediary relationships rather than leading investment diligence or setting thesis.
