Background

Dr. Bruce Cook is a private investor, financial consultant, ordained Christian minister and author whose career bridges institutional finance and faith-based marketplace ministry. He earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from The University of Texas at Austin (1994, summa cum laude), writing his dissertation, *"Courting Philanthropy: The Role of University Presidents and Chancellors in Fund Raising."* He is a 1977 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and completed a master's degree at Harding University in 1980. In 1998 he was a co-recipient of the Grenzebach Award for Outstanding Published Scholarship on Fundraising from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and he is widely described as an authority on fundraising, private equity and philanthropy.

His most relevant institutional experience came at the University of Texas Investment Management Company (UTIMCO), one of the largest endowment managers in the U.S. (roughly $16B in assets under management), where he served as a Research Coordinator/Director on the Private Markets team. There he conducted due-diligence research and helped direct alternative-asset commitments averaging around $500 million per year across venture capital and buyout (private equity) funds. Earlier in his career he worked in banking, reportedly as an assistant manager at one of Arkansas's largest banks.

In January 2000 Cook founded VentureAdvisers, Inc., a strategic advisory firm serving private companies and private equity firms on capital formation, strategy, branding and fund placement. In January 2006 he co-founded Kingdom Venture Partners with Rob Moss; the firm's early-stage vehicle, the Kingdom Ventures Fund, was based in Lakebay, Washington. Cook is also the founder of the Kingdom Economic Yearly Summit (KEYS) — a Christian gathering loosely patterned after the World Economic Forum (its 3rd annual event was held in Denver in early 2009) — as well as Kingdom House Publishing and Glory Realm Ministries.

Beyond investing, Cook has been a prominent figure in the "faith and business" / marketplace movement. From roughly 2014–2019 he co-founded and chaired the Kingdom Congressional International Alliance (KCIA), and he has authored several books including *Aligning with the Apostolic* (2013), *The 8th Mountain* (2017), and *Prayers for Cleansing Ancestral Bloodlines in the Courts of Heaven* (2020). He resides in Lakebay, Washington with his wife; the couple has two grown sons and grandchildren.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests at the seed / early stage with a stated range of roughly $500K–$5M per opportunity.
  • Applies a distinctive, faith-based screen the firm brands "Spiritual Due Diligence™" on top of conventional financial and commercial due diligence.
  • Seeks "wholistic opportunities and management teams where there is integration between the head and the heart" — i.e., mission-aligned founders alongside sound fundamentals.
  • Evaluates companies on experienced management, value creation, market penetration, sustainable margins, barriers to entry, competitive advantage, cost containment, revenue growth and profitable exits.
  • Prefers deals where there are multiple potential exit strategies at attractive prices within two to five years, adjusted for the company's stage of development.
  • Positions the fund around diversity- and inclusion-related impact investing, consistent with the "Kingdom" (faith-driven) framing.

Notable Investments

  • Public deal databases (PitchBook, Crunchbase) show few or no individually disclosed portfolio investments for Kingdom Venture Partners, and the Kingdom Ventures Fund is recorded as liquidated — so a verified, named portfolio is not publicly documented.
  • Cook lists director/trustee roles with operating companies including First State Manufacturing LLC and SmartLife Insurance Holdings, which reflect his board-level involvement rather than confirmed fund investments.
  • He cites strategic relationships with The K4C Group, Oaktree Ventures, and Zero2 Companies, plus institutional LPs (family offices, multi-family offices, funds of funds, and corporate pension funds).
