Background
Bruellan was founded in Geneva in 1991 and was taken over in 2001 by Antoine Spillmann and Jean-Paul Tissières, who have since run it as an independent Swiss wealth manager and multi-family office. The firm serves individuals and families with diverse, international wealth, offering wealth management, asset management, a dedicated in-house multi-family office service, and real estate advisory. In 2018, Bruellan merged with Semper (led by Grégoire Vaucher), with the combined entity retaining the Bruellan brand and consolidating in Geneva's Malagnou neighbourhood.
Antoine Spillmann is the firm's Geneva-based executive/managing partner. Before Bruellan he spent 1986–2000 working for investment banks in London, and in 1996 he co-founded Bryan Garnier & Cie Ltd, where he was a Managing Director. He holds diplomas from London Business School in Investment Management and Corporate Finance. He sat on the board of ArcelorMittal (2006–2016), chairing its risk committee and serving on its audit committee, was Vice President of the Swiss Association of Asset Managers (SAAM/ASG) for five years, and in September 2023 was appointed Chair of the Board of GAM Holding AG. He is also co-founder of Swiss Respect, an association defending the Swiss financial and legal framework.
Jean-Paul Tissières is Head of Asset Management and an executive partner, based in Crans-Montana. He began his career at leading Swiss banks including UBS, United Overseas Bank and Guyerzeller Bank, then spent 14 years as a portfolio manager at Lombard Odier before taking over the leadership of Bruellan alongside Spillmann in 2001. He co-founded Swiss Respect with Spillmann.
As of 2024–2025, both founders stepped back from day-to-day operational management to focus on supporting the firm's succession and on their own client relationships, while retaining their positions as principal shareholders. Operational leadership passed to a management committee chaired by Philippe Moser (Managing Partner from 2025), with Anick Baud over Asset Management, Malek Dahmani as CIO, Jean-François Beth heading private clients, and Catherine Pulfer as COO.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Positioned as a highly personalised, values-driven wealth and asset manager: the firm's own framing is "Sharing your values is our strength, growing your wealth is our business," and it markets itself as "your Swiss partner in managing and transferring your family wealth."
- Core activity is discretionary and advisory portfolio management for private clients and families, not classic venture capital; the "Angel Investors / Seed Round" label appears to come from third-party investor directories rather than a stated startup-investing mandate.
- Runs in-house investment funds, including BAM Swiss Equities and BAM Swiss Family Enterprises, the latter reflecting a thesis focused on Swiss family-owned and founder-led companies.
- Multi-family office service tailors mandates to families with international, multi-asset heritage — spanning liquid markets, funds, and real estate — with an emphasis on long-term wealth preservation and inter-generational transfer.
Notable Investments
- BAM Swiss Family Enterprises — Bruellan Asset Management fund investing in Swiss family-controlled/founder-led listed companies.
- BAM Swiss Equities — the firm's Swiss equities fund strategy.
- *Note:* No specific angel or seed-stage startup investments by Bruellan or its founders are publicly documented; the firm's disclosed investing runs through managed portfolios and its in-house funds rather than named venture deals. (Antoine Spillmann's separate corporate roles — board of ArcelorMittal, chairmanship of GAM Holding AG — are governance positions, not portfolio investments.)
